About us

  • Anita Phillips

Anita is a coach and consultant with 25 years’ corporate experience in London, Paris and Hong Kong. In her prior role as a solicitor and consultant at a leading international law firm, Anita specialised in dispute resolution and diversity and inclusion.

Anita assists clients with career transitions, stretch projects and topics like prioritisation, confidence and wellbeing, helping them to achieve their goals in a sustainable way. Her own experience, having made several life transitions between countries and roles, informs her approach.

Anita’s coaching style is goal-driven and solutions-focussed, using positive strategies to overcome barriers to growth. Clients see her as a change agent, helping them to see their behaviours and motivations in a fresh light. She uses challenge and creative techniques to help clients unlock issues.

Anita has a particular interest in advancing the role of women, and co-chaired Women in Law Hong Kong (WiLHK), Asia’s largest female lawyer network for four years. She has spoken at a large number of events and conferences and has been published on a variety of legal, commercial and diversity & inclusion topics.

In her spare time, Anita enjoys trail running, rock climbing and skiing. Completing the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc, a 176km race through the French, Italian and Swiss alps, enabled her to see first-hand the parallels between coaching for performance in business and coaching for performance in sport. In particular, how our greatest opponent is often the one inside our own head and how belief, time, a plan and support lie at the heart of realising big goals.

Anita is an accredited executive coach with the Academy of Executive Coaching, has a first class degree in law, and is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. She speaks English and French.

  • David Phillips

David spent a decade in private legal practice in London, working across the media, technology, telecommunications and energy sectors, before moving into learning and development in a leading international law firm. In 2013 he moved to Hong Kong to head the firm’s Asia-wide L&D function and ultimately became the regional HR director.

Throughout his career has David worked with lawyers and senior managers to address the skills and development challenges inherent in a highly competitive business environment. His career has given him multiple perspectives on which he draws in his work: as a lawyer, L&D professional and HR director working with senior law firm leaders, David has seen up-close the ingredients for success at all stages of a lawyer’s career, from junior associates to law firm leaders.

Initially as a member of an internal coaching faculty, and subsequently as an independent coach and consultant, David has over a decade’s experience in coaching lawyers and non-legal professionals at all levels of seniority and across practice groups. He has particular experience in coaching around career transition and leadership development for senior lawyers who aspired to make, or have recently made, the transition to partnership. He has also worked closely with both established senior leaders and those new to leadership positions, helping them to become more effective and successful in their roles.

David has coached both on a one-to-one basis and in a team setting, and is comfortable working remotely or in person, across multiple jurisdictions, cultures and demographics. He has extensive experience in the design and delivery of training and development programmes across a variety of subject matters.

David holds a practitioner diploma in executive coaching and is certified by the Academy of Executive Coaching. He subscribes to the ICF code of ethics for executive coaches. He speaks English and French and is a keen rock climber, skier and cyclist.
